自然の声に耳を傾け、その情景を音に宿すウクレレプレイヤー。

 

ハワイの自然や文化、そこから生まれる音楽に魅せられ、ウクレレの持つ繊細な表現と奥深い響きを追求している。

 

Kumu Kehau Tamureから学んだハワイアン・ストラミングを大切に受け継ぎながら

クラシックギターをルーツとする音楽経験も融合。

優しく触れるような音から、雨や風、大地の息吹を感じさせるような表現まで

ウクレレを通して「情景」を描くことを自身の音楽の軸としている。

 

「Kahua」という名前には、Kumu Kehauから贈られた「foundation（礎・土台）」という意味が込められている。

基本を大切に、謙虚に学び続けながら、自分自身の音を育てていくことを大切にしている。

 

現在はソロアーティストとしての演奏活動を中心に、KAMAKA Official Artistとして

国内外のステージやイベントに出演。

また、ギタリストエバラ健太とのユニット「Kani Kani」では、ハワイアンとブルース

それぞれのルーツを融合したインストゥルメンタル音楽を展開している。

 

2026年には、アルバム『Kani Kani』がNa Hoku Hanohano Award International部門Finalistに選出されるなど

活動の場を日本から海外へと広げている。

 

演奏活動のほか、ウクレレ講師やラジオパーソナリティーとしても活動し、音楽を通して人と人をつなぎ

そこに生まれる時間や空気そのものを楽しんでもらえるような活動を目指している。

Kahua

 

A ukulele artist who listens to the voice of nature and brings its scenery to life through sound.

 

Inspired by the nature, culture, and music of Hawaiʻi, Kahua explores the expressive depth of the ukulele, creating music that captures the feeling and atmosphere of a place.

 

Kahua’s musical foundation is rooted in Hawaiian strumming techniques learned from Kumu Kehau Tamure. These techniques are combined with a musical background influenced by classical guitar, allowing Kahua to explore a wide range of expression—from gentle, delicate sounds to powerful textures that evoke rain, wind, and the breath of the earth.

 

The name “Kahua” was given by Kumu Kehau and carries the meaning of “foundation” or “groundwork.” It reflects the importance of building from the basics, remaining humble, and continuing to learn and grow while developing a personal voice.

 

As a solo artist, Kahua performs in Japan and abroad as a KAMAKA Official Artist, sharing a distinctive sound shaped by Hawaiian musical traditions and a personal approach to the ukulele.

 

Kahua is also a member of Kani Kani, an instrumental duo with guitarist Kenta Ebara, blending their two musical roots—Hawaiian music and blues—into an original sound.

 

In 2026, Kani Kani’s album Kani Kani was selected as a Finalist in the International category of the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards, bringing Kahua’s music to an even wider audience beyond Japan.

 

Alongside performing, Kahua works as a ukulele instructor and radio personality. Through music, Kahua hopes to create moments that connect people and allow listeners to experience not only the sound itself, but also the atmosphere, emotion, and scenery behind it.
